About the Wyong Accommodation Support Program
The Wyong Accommodation Support Program provides medium to long-term accommodation and support to individuals and families in the Wyong Shire.
The Program utilises houses, units and bedsits which are provided by various community housing provider.
Staff visit each of the properties on a regular basis to provide practical assistance, including assistance with finding permanent accommodation of their own. The Program builds a solid rental history, prepares clients to enter the private rental market and teaches them to skills needed maintain their own tenancy.
Entry Process
Individuals and families seeking accommodation will be interviewed by a staff member who will explain how the program works. The majority of clients come from our crisis refuges, however individuals and families can also be taken directly into the Program.
Wyong Accommodation Support Program clients will be required to:
>> Sign a lease with community housing provider.
>> Accept support from staff to move towards independent housing
If the Wyong Accommodation Support Program has no vacancies, or the applicant is unsuitable because of other reasons (e.g. behavioural issues, unmanageable mental illness, drug/alcohol affected), staff will make every effort to find an alternative housing option.
Funding
The Wyong Accommodation Support Program is funded by Community Services as a Specialist Homelessness Service.
