About Coast Shelter

Coast Shelter is a not-for-profit charity based on the Central Coast of New South Wales which attempts to meet the needs of the disadvantaged within our community through advocacy and the provision of direct services.

Coast Shelter provides accommodation to approximately 110 homeless men, women and children each night and also coordinates the provision of over 200 meals each day at the Donnison Street Restaurant.

Coast Shelter has several refuges which look more like ordinary homes where we accommodate homeless men, women, families and youth which staff help them to get their lives in order. This means that our staff have to be skilled in a whole host of problem areas such as domestic violence, financial difficulties, gambling, alcohol and other drug issues, behavioural difficulties and just plain living skills.

Our programs aim to meet the specific needs of our clients. We provide guidance and support to assist them to obtain their own accommodation and manage their lives effectively.
